Gwinnett County Public Schools’ spring break is Monday, April 5, through Friday, April 9, 2027, on the district’s approved 2026-27 calendar. It comes the week after Easter, which is March 28, 2027. Private schools set their own dates. Here is what is open in and around Duluth that week.

Spring break 2027 at a glance

  • April 5-9: no school, Gwinnett County Public Schools
  • Thursday and Friday, April 8-9: Southeastern Railway Museum open, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Days out in Duluth

  • Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Hwy.: Georgia’s official transportation history museum, with full-size trains, cars and buses and a train ride included with admission. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, so during spring break week it is open Thursday and Friday, according to the museum. In April 2026 it ran Nana and Papa’s Day on April 11 and Kiddie Commuter Day on April 25; its 2027 calendar is not out.
  • The Hudgens Center for Art and Learning, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Building 300: art exhibitions and classes, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, according to the Downtown Duluth attractions page. See thehudgens.org for exhibits.
  • Duluth Branch library, 3180 Main St.: open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a makerspace and weekly story times on its events calendar.
  • Eye Candy Art Studio, 3127 Main St., 678-714-5683: paint-your-own pottery and canvas with walk-ins, plus camps and workshops, according to the Downtown Duluth directory.

Parks and the river

  • Taylor Park, in front of City Hall at 3167 Main St.: a train-themed playground with a climbable locomotive and the oversized “Gigglebark Tree” play structure, for children 12 and under with an adult.
  • Shorty Howell Park, 2750 Pleasant Hill Road: a 1.25-mile paved trail, a lake and playgrounds, open sunrise to 11 p.m.
  • Rogers Bridge Park, 4291 Rogers Bridge Road: walk the pedestrian bridge over the Chattahoochee River into Johns Creek, with a playground and a dog park.
  • McDaniel Farm Park, 3251 McDaniel Road: a restored 1930s farm with 3 miles of trails and a farm-themed playground.
  • Bunten Road Park, 3180 Bunten Road: the city plans to repave the parking lots over spring break 2027 as part of its walking trail project, according to the project page.

Pools

West Gwinnett Park Aquatic Center, 4488 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Berkeley Lake, 678-407-8801, runs an indoor 25-yard competition pool and an instructional pool year-round, according to Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation. Its outdoor leisure pool and the county’s seasonal pools do not open until Memorial Day weekend; see our summer camps and pools page.

Downtown in April

The city’s 2026 calendar gives a sense of an April downtown. In April 2026 there was Flicks on the Bricks on April 10, a Peachtree Ridge High band concert on April 17, a STEAM night on April 23 and S’mores in the Park on April 24, according to the city’s events page. The Duluth Live series of performers in Parsons Alley starts in April, every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., and the Duluth Farmers and Artisan Market meets on the first and third Sundays from March to May. The 2027 calendar has not been posted.
