Mother's Day in Duluth 2027: brunch, events and gift markets

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9, 2027. In Duluth the weekend has meant free admission for moms at the Southeastern Railway Museum, and May brings the Spring Arts Festival and the Duluth Farmers and Artisan Market to the Town Green. Gwinnett County Public Schools’ last day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027.

The railway museum

Over Mother’s Day weekend, May 9-10, 2026, the Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Hwy., let all moms in free with their family or significant other and invited families to “put her on the train,” according to its event page. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and regular admission includes one train ride. Its 2027 plans were not posted as of Oct. 6.

Gift markets and the arts festival

Duluth Spring Arts Festival, Town Green, 3142 Hill St.: in 2026 it ran Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 17, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with up to 125 painters, photographers, sculptors, glass blowers, jewelers and crafters, artist demonstrations, acoustic music and a children’s play area, according to the city’s event page. The Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces organizes it.
Duluth Farmers and Artisan Market, Town Green: the first and third Sundays of the month from March to May, 2 to 5 p.m.; in May 2026 the dates were May 3 and May 17, on the city’s events page. More in our farmers markets guide.

Brunch and tea

No Duluth restaurant had posted a Mother’s Day 2027 brunch on its own website as of Oct. 6. These downtown places serve brunch, breakfast or tea year-round; book directly.

Magnolia Cottage, 2987 Main St., 770-476-2202: coffee and brunch Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and high tea daily by reservation only, booked at least 24 hours ahead with a deposit, according to its website. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The city’s 2026 calendar also had the Chalk Art Festival on May 1-2, Duluth Derby Day, a Kentucky Derby viewing party on the Town Green, on May 2, AAPI VibeFest on May 9 and the Lantern Parade on May 29, according to the city’s events page. The 2027 calendar has not been posted.
