The railway museum

The Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Hwy., gave dads and granddads free admission on June 20 and 21, 2026, with food from Cassie’s Catering on the Saturday, according to its Father’s Day page. The Duluth Historical Society’s Heritage Day and Open House was held at the museum’s Duluth Depot the same Saturday, with free admission to the depot area, historical displays on the city’s railroad roots, a bounce house and family activities. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday; regular admission includes one train ride.

Car shows

  • Rotary Club Car Show, downtown Duluth: on Saturday, June 20, 2026, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., exotic cars, antique classics, foreign sports cars, hot rods and muscle cars filled the area around City Hall. It was free to attend and hosted by the Rotary Club of Duluth, according to the city’s event page.
  • Wheels and Rails Invitational Car Show and Cruise-in, Southeastern Railway Museum: an evening show on Friday, June 26, 2026, gates at 4:30 p.m. and the show from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with an open class, a Top 20, a DJ and the museum’s trains. Car registration was $20, according to the museum.

Brunch and a meal out

No Duluth restaurant had posted a Father’s Day 2027 menu on its own website as of Oct. 6. These downtown spots are open on Sundays, according to their own websites; book or check hours directly.

  • Truck and Tap, 3137 Main St.: rotating food trucks and craft beer, open noon to 10 p.m. Sundays, according to its website.

Juneteenth, the day before

Juneteenth falls on a Saturday in 2027. In 2026 it was a Friday: City Hall and the library closed on June 19, on the city’s and the library’s holiday schedules, and the city held a Rock the Block Juneteenth Celebration downtown, according to its events page. West Gwinnett Park’s outdoor leisure pool opens noon to 6 p.m. on Juneteenth, according to the county.
