Shorty Howell Park in Duluth took 21,409 of Gwinnett's 228,397 early in-person votes. No voting Monday; polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Advance voting in Gwinnett County ended Friday with 228,397 ballots cast in person over 18 days. The Shorty Howell Park Activity Building on Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth’s only early voting site, took 21,409 of them.

The figures come from the county’s advance in-person totals by location, published Saturday by Gwinnett County Voter Registrations and Elections. The county marks them unofficial and incomplete.

Anyone who has not voted yet now has one day left: Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. There is no in-person voting Monday.

The numbers

Another 8,539 absentee ballots had been accepted by Saturday, out of 13,347 issued, the county’s absentee ballot report shows. Together, the two reports put about 38.7% of active voters as having voted before Election Day. That combined figure is our own sum of the county’s numbers.

Voting Tuesday

The county set out the rules for the last days in a notice published Friday:

  • No voting Monday, Nov. 2. Advance voting is over.
  • Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. You must vote at the polling place for your precinct, not at Shorty Howell Park or any other early voting site.
  • You cannot vote at the elections office in the Beauty P. Baldwin Building on Election Day.
  • Find your polling place and sample ballot on the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page, or call 678-226-7210.

One Election Day polling place has moved, the county’s elections page says. Precinct 059 now votes at Unity Atlanta Church, 3597 Parkway Lane, in Peachtree Corners, about five miles southwest of Duluth. Check the My Voter Page if you are not sure of your precinct.

Georgia requires a photo ID at the polls, such as a Georgia driver’s license, a Georgia voter ID card or a U.S. passport. Our voting guide lists every accepted ID.

Absentee ballots

A mailed absentee ballot must reach the county by 7 p.m. Tuesday. A postmark is not enough. The county’s notice says you can mail it or take it in person to the Beauty P. Baldwin Building, 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, in Lawrenceville.

The office is open for absentee ballot returns from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the county said.

What it means for you

  • If you have not voted, plan for Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at your own precinct.
  • Look up your polling place on the My Voter Page before you leave, especially if you vote in precinct 059.
  • If you still hold an absentee ballot, mailing it now is a risk. Taking it to the elections office in Lawrenceville by 7 p.m. Tuesday is the sure way to have it counted.
  • Unofficial results will be posted on GwinnettCounty.com after polls close, the county said.
